Hello! I'm Sahil
I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Penn State, University Park. I have developed a lucrative interest in the technological parade from a young age. An admire for the abstract coupled with an innovative mind has allowed me to go through success for most areas of my life, most notably: Academic, Sports, and Co-Curricular. Common Sense, aim, and jest are the anchors of my personality, all level-headed to gear me with a strong function ethic and desirable group skills.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
New Product Development Co-op
January 2019 - July 2019
Columbus, Indiana
Cummins Inc.
-
Awarded by the CTO for being the winner of Cummins 100thAnniversary Global Innovation Challenge in Technical/Product Category for a solution to minimize counterfeits products
-
Headed the development of The Annular Chip, a robotic non-contact motion measurement system for fuel pumps, to perform the eccentric rotational analysis, log data and detect abnormalities
-
Advanced development of a high-resolution, non-invasive electromechanical displacement measurement system for needle motion of XPIfuel injectors to aid product design
-
Contributed to the advancement of a new fuel injector; focused on failure analysis and solving design issues
Robotics Intern
June 2018 - August 2018
Durango, Colorado
StoneAge Waterblast Tools
I was responsible for designing, developing, and executing a Data Logging Device, which collected test data for a product in development. I also created a mounting mechanism that enabled the device to collect working statistics in industrial usage. The tool functionality could be reviewed and potentially improved based on data analysis after use.
-
Designed and implemented a device from scratch, which can log 1.5M data points of various critical operational data along with an associated timestamp.
-
Created a mounting mechanism, with anti-rotation and shock absorption, using custom washers, O-ring, and bearings.
-
Modified the original product to accommodate the device and mounting mechanism
-
Applied knowledge of thermal conductivity, magnetic field strengths and material properties for the development of the device
-
Developed multiple SolidWorks and Eagle CAD models for the device planning and prototypes
-
Built and tested two prototypes of the device
-
Achieved battery life expectancy of 1.13 years, high working temperature range of -40F to 257F along with a waterproof and greaseproof design
I collaborated closely with the Robotics team and the Mechanical Engineering team to achieve maximum potential for this device’s future.
